The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) announced in a statement yesterday that 72,767 signups were recorded for the “Stay, Dine and See Macao” as of May 10.

According to the statement, the project launched 35 itineraries this year such as the new “self-choice itineraries”, kids-and-families and maritime tours. The statement added that 31,999 residents registered for local tours, while 40,768 residents took part in staycations, with 17,120 hotel packages sold.

Meanwhile, the statement pointed out that the project’s self-choice itineraries were the most popular, which had 10,318 residents sign up. The self-choice itineraries, the statement noted, enable residents to “design tour elements to their preference”, adding that 90 percent of the self-choice tours included visits to Nossa Senhora Village of Ká Hó, the University of Macau campus in Hengqin and various buffets, among others.

The second most popular itinerary was the Coloane tour with 9,352 participants, followed by the maritime tour with 5,795 participants. The “Macao World Heritage tour” ranked as the fourth most popular tour, while the fifth spot was taken by the “Macao Grand Prix Museum tour”, the statement added.

Moreover, the statement said that the limited tours for the firework shows during Chinese New Year (CNY) were “especially popular”, being “fully signed up” after quotas were added.

Other itineraries, the statement noted, such as the drone-themed tour were also launched, while other highlights included “close encounter with miniature horses” and “waterpark fun”, among others.

Meanwhile, the project has so far engaged 167 travel agencies, 481 tour guides, 629 tour bus drivers and 70 hotel establishments, the statement underlined.
