The “Scenes of Macau” Joint Group Exhibition by Gu Yue and Associated Artists is being held at the Rui Cunha Foundation (FRC) gallery in Avenida da Praia Grande, showcasing works in different media by Prof. Gu Yue and some of his postgraduate students.

According to an FRC statement, Gu became an associate professor at the Macau University of Science and Technology’s (MUST) Faculty of Humanities and Arts in 2015.

The theme “Scenes of Macau” is the “backdrop” that welcomes art students when they start their learning journey, the statement noted, “starting to observe and developing feelings for the surrounding landscape”. The statement added that those who come to Macau to study demonstrate their thoughts about local images and people in different media and languages.

The gallery, the statement underlined, held a series of “Scenes of Macau” Joint Art Exhibitions in 2016 and 2019. The third edition presents over 30 art pieces from a group of eight artists, with the media covering various materials including sculptures, art installations, oil paintings, and traditional Chinese ink paintings, among others

The statement pointed out that the art pieces convey a variety of features of contemporary arts such as “the shape, structure, time, space, theatricalisation and post production, trends that are revealed through several dimensions, ideas and concepts”.

The exhibition is organised in conjunction with the Macau University of Science and Technology’s (MUST) School of Humanities and Arts, Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC), and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area Artists Union, the statement noted.

The art works are on display until May 22, according to the statement. The gallery is open from Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., and on Saturdays from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
