Macau’s Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre has announced six COVID-19 positive cases imported from Hong Kong and the Philippines, raising Macau’s asymptomatic tally to 132.

Five of the six asymptomatic cases were announced yesterday, while the other was announced on Friday.

According to a statement by the centre, the five patients announced yesterday comprise four arriving from Hong Kong and one arriving from the Philippines via Singapore.

The four arriving from Hong Kong comprise a visitor from Hong Kong and three local residents.

The visitor from Hong Kong is a 71-year-old man who had previously received two Sinovac inactivated jabs.

The three local residents are a 65-year-old woman, a 73-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman. They had previously been inoculated with Sinovac inactivated or mRNA vaccine.

The patient arriving from the Philippines is a 22-year-old local woman who had previously received two mRNA jabs.

According to a statement by the centre on Friday, the patient announced that day is a 65-year-old male visitor from Hong Kong who had previously received three mRNA jabs.

Macau’s total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases remains at 82.

2 “re-positive” returnees from US & France

Meanwhile, Friday’s statement by the centre also announced two COVID-19 “re-positive” cases imported from the United States and France.

Both are local residents who each had previously received three mRNA jabs, a 21-year-old man and a 74-year-old woman. Both returned to Macau via Singapore.

A COVID-19 “re-positive” case means that a person has tested positive for the novel coronavirus again in a nucleic acid test (NAT) after having previously been infected with COVID-19 and recovered.

According to Friday’s statement, the two cases have been classified as “re-positive” cases as both had previously been diagnosed with the novel coronavirus disease.

All patients are now undergoing isolation at the Health Bureau’s (SSM) Public Health Clinical Centre in Coloane.

COVID-19 “re-positive” cases are not classified as confirmed COVID-19 cases for Macau, neither are they classified as asymptomatic COVID-19 cases for Macau.
