The Judiciary Police (PJ) received a report from the Fire Services Bureau (CB) at 1:41 p.m. yesterday that a man had died inside a car in a charcoal-burning incident in the car park in Estrada do Alto de Coloane near the A-Ma Cultural Village, and requested PJ officers to investigate, according to a message from Judiciary Police (PJ).
According to the message, a resident found the victim’s car engine was on when he collected his car from the car park. He saw a man sitting in the driver’s seat who failed to respond when he approached him.
He also saw a pot filled with burnt charcoal on the front passenger seat. After the man failed to respond, the resident called the police for help.
Firefighters rushed to the car park. They broke a rear door window since all the doors were locked. The man was certified dead, according to the message.
Two packs of charcoal were found on the back seat of the car, one of which had been opened. No suicide note was found. The deceased was a 32-year-old local resident surnamed Chan.
The case has been preliminarily classified as a dead body found. The case has been passed to the PJ Investigation Section for follow-up, the message pointed out.
