Macau’s Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre yesterday announced three COVID-19 positive cases imported from Taiwan and the United States, raising Macau’s asymptomatic tally to 138.
All three patients are local residents.
According to a statement by the centre, the first patient is a 31-year-old man who returned from Taiwan on Sunday, while the second and third patients are a 19-year-old woman and a 21-year-old woman who returned to Macau on Monday from the US via Singapore.
The three patients had previously received two or three mRNA jabs.
Macau’s total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases remains at 82.
2 re-positive cases by HK men
Meanwhile, yesterday’s statement also announced two COVID-19 “re-positive” cases imported from Hong Kong.
Both are Hong Kong residents.
The two “re-positive” patients are a 30-year-old man and a 56-year-old man who entered Macau on Sunday.
The first man, who had previously received two mRNA jabs, caught a Golden Bus to Macau, while the second man, who had previously received three Sinovac inactivated jabs, drove to Macau via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge (HZMB).
A COVID-19 “re-positive” case means that a person has tested positive for the novel coronavirus again in a nucleic acid test (NAT) after having previously been infected with COVID-19 and recovered.
The two men’s cases have been classified as “re-positive” cases as they had previously been diagnosed with the novel coronavirus disease.
All five patients are now undergoing isolation at the Health Bureau’s (SSM) Public Health Clinical Centre in Coloane.
COVID-19 “re-positive” cases are not classified as confirmed COVID-19 cases for Macau, neither are they classified as asymptomatic COVID-19 cases for Macau.
