Four Vietnamese who had been selling ice for around three months were arrested yesterday in the central district, resulting in the seizure of 58.69 grammes of the drug and three “blue pills”, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Chong Kam Leong said at a special press conference yesterday morning.

Chong said the suspects are surnamed Cao, Vu, Dang and Do. According to Chong, the male suspects 31-year-old Cao, 29-year-old Vu and 51-year-old Dang are jobless. Dang is an illegal immigrant who is the partner of 50-year-old Do who works as a domestic helper. Chong said the four live in a flat in Avenida de Horta e Costa.

According to Chong, the police were tipped off several days ago that there was a Vietnamese selling ice to locals in the central district. Chong said after the police identified Cao and Vu as selling the crystal meth on Monday, they put the location under surveillance and eventually caught Cao at 9 p.m. that day.

The police then escorted Cao back to his flat, Chong said, adding that they found the other three suspects inside the apartment. According to Chong, 58.69 gramme of ice as well as three “blue pills” (a kind of drug) were seized at the flat, with an estimated street value of about 200,000 patacas.

Besides the drugs, the police also found electronic scales and a rice cooker which they believed was used by the suspects to hide the drugs, Chong said.

Chong said that the suspects refused to disclose where they got the drugs, while only Cao confessed that he has been taking and selling drugs for three months. The four suspects were transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) yesterday, facing drug trafficking and abetting illegal immigration charges, according to Chong.
