The Macau Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) announced on its website yesterday that frequent showers are expected over the next few days, adding that the public should take precautions against flooding.
The statement noted that a trough* of low pressure over northern Guangdong is moving southwards and “will affect the coastal area persistently” from today.
Macau’s weather will be “more showery”, with thunderstorms and heavy showers over the next few days, according to the statement. The bureau urged the public to observe the latest weather information, take measures against flooding and plan their means of transport in advance, owing to the expected “frequent and thundery showers during the week”.
*According to Wikipedia, a trough is “an elongated region of relatively low atmospheric pressure without a closed isobaric contour that would define it as a low pressure area”.
