The Judiciary Police (PJ) were informed by the Macau Customs Service yesterday at 12:45 p.m. that a male corpse was found floating in the sea opposite Avenida Marginal Flor de Lotus west of Cotai, according to a PJ statement yesterday.

According to the statement, the Customs Service saw the cadaver at 12:10 p.m. on their CCTV, and after sending a boat to the scene to investigate, it was identified as a male corpse, which was then pulled ashore near a hotel pier in Taipa.

The statement noted that after a preliminary inspection, no suspicious or criminally induced injuries were found on the corpse. The statement added that the body had already started to decompose, so it was estimated that the deceased had been dead for a period of time.

The statement said that the deceased is an Asian male, aged between 30 and 40, around 1.70 metres tall. The statement added that the deceased was naked from the waist up and wearing black trousers with black socks and white sneakers. The statement said that no identification documents or suicide notes were found on the body.

The case was listed as dead body found. The cause of death still needs to be confirmed by forensic examination. The case has been transferred to the PJ Investigation Section for follow-up, according to the statement.
