An “Exchange Books with Books” activity will be held by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) for the first time next Saturday and Sunday with the aim of strengthening the reading atmosphere in the city and also kicking off reading resource-sharing in the community, helping to develop Macau into a “City of Reading”, according to an IC statement yesterday.
The activity will be held at the Lok Yeung Fa Yuen Building sitting-out area in Fai Chi Kei district next Saturday (March 9) and in Iao Hon Market Park next Sunday (Mach 10), from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., the statement said.
Interested members of the public can bring books that comply with the book exchange rules and hand them over to the library staff there, and they can select and exchange an equal number of books of their choice free of charge. Each member of the public can exchange a maximum of 20 books during the event.
According to the statement, the following publications are excluded from the exchange: magazines, pamphlets, books published 10 or more years ago, college guides, textbooks, event programmes, children’s books, non-local yearbooks, law books and examination books, science and engineering books published five or more years ago, computer books published three or more years ago, travel guides published two or more years ago, books with indecent or violent content, religious books, pirated books or those violating copyrights, and books that have been damaged, are dirty, incomplete, with missing pages,have been defaced, as well as five or more copies of the publication.
