A local man vented his anger by pushing over eight parked motorcycles after arguing with a woman, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Cheong Heon Fan said at a regular press conference.
According to Cheong, the 35-year-old man surnamed Lok is from the mainland and works in Macau as a waiter.
Cheong said the police received a report at around 6:25 a.m. on March 5 from a citizen saying that he saw a man arguing with a woman and then pushing over some motorcycles in Estrada do Repouso. PSP officers arriving at the scene confirmed that eight motorcycles had been pushed over and were lying on their sides.
The police made use of the citywide CCTV camera system and identified Lok, Cheong said, adding that the police intercepted him in Avenida do Almirante Lacerda on Sunday morning. Cheong said Lok admitted that he pushed over the motorcycles because he was angry after he had got into a heated argument with a woman.
Cheong said that the police have meanwhile contacted the owners of the eight motorcycles. Two of them told the police that they had to pay between them a total of 8,000 patacas in repair fees and each decided to file a criminal complaint against the culprit, Cheong said.
Cheong said that Lok has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) for further questioning, based on Article 206 of the Macau Penal Code, which states that a person who has fully or partially destroyed others’ possessions faces a fine or up to three years behind bars.
