The Court of First Instance (TJB) sentenced a driver working for the local branch of US online transportation network company Uber to four months imprisonment and banned him from driving for eighteen months for drink driving, according to a statement by the Public Prosecution Office (MP) earlier this week.

The MP statement did not name the company. However, the local Uber branch reportedly confirmed over the weekend that the driver was working for it.

A statement released by the Public Security Police (PSP) on Sunday said that the about 30-year-old suspect, surnamed Iau, was caught during an action combating illegal passenger services in Cotai on Saturday afternoon.
