Macau’s Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre has announced four COVID-19 positive cases imported from Hong Kong and India, raising Macau’s asymptomatic tally to 164.

Two of the four asymptomatic cases were announced yesterday, while one was announced on Tuesday, the other one was announced on Monday.

The two patients announced yesterday comprise a 63-year-old Hong Kong man and a 55-year-old Hong Kong woman who both entered Macau on Tuesday. Both had previously received two inactivated jabs.

The patient announced on Tuesday is a 67-year-old local woman who returned to Macau on Monday from India via Singapore. She had previously received two inactivated jabs, and an mRNA dose as her booster jab.

The patient announced on Monday is a 69-year-old Hong Kong man who entered Macau on Sunday. He had previously received three inactivated jabs.

Macau’s total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases remains at 83.

2 ‘re-positive’ cases from HK & Singapore

Meanwhile, the centre has also announced two COVID-19 “re-positive” cases imported from Hong Kong and Singapore.

The first case was announced on Monday, while the second was announced yesterday.

The first “re-positive” patient is a 39-year-old French man who entered Macau from Hong Kong on Sunday. The man, who had previously received three mRNA jabs, is a family member of a Macau resident.

The second “re-positive” patient is a 16-year-old local boy who returned to Macau from Singapore on Monday. He had previously received two mRNA jabs.

A COVID-19 “re-positive” case means that a person has tested positive for the novel coronavirus again in a nucleic acid test (NAT) after having previously been infected with COVID-19 and recovered.

The two patients’ cases have been classified as “re-positive” cases as both had previously been diagnosed with the novel coronavirus disease.

All six asymptomatic or “re-positive” patients are now undergoing isolation at the Health Bureau’s (SSM) Public Health Clinical Centre in Coloane.

COVID-19 “re-positive” cases are not classified as confirmed COVID-19 cases for Macau, neither are they classified as asymptomatic COVID-19 cases.
