A Vietnamese non-resident worker (NRW) was arrested on Wednesday for selling e-liquid containing ketamine, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Ho Chan Nam said during a special press conference on Friday.
The 29-year-old suspect surnamed Nguyen works as a chef in a local restaurant.
According to Ho, the Judiciary Police received a tip-off recently about a Vietnamese man selling e-cigarettes containing ketamine to people at a nightclub in Nape, and an investigation confirmed the identity of the suspect.
Ho said that on Wednesday, PJ officers set up surveillance outside Nguyen’s flat in Avenida de Horta e Costa, and at 8 p.m. saw him leaving the building. The officers immediately stopped and searched him and found three bottles of e-liquid containing a total of 30 millilitres of ketamine and a vape pen on him. When searching the suspect’s flat officers discovered 27 bottles of the same type of e-liquid (aka smoke juice) and a large amount of packaging equipment.
Under questioning, Nguyen admitted that he has a drug habit using e-cigarettes to take ketamine, adding that he had recently been sent the e-liquid containing ketamine from Vietnam which was delivered to the mainland.
Nguyen also said that he bought the packaging materials from a mainland online shopping site and smuggled the drugs and the packaging materials to Macau himself.
Ho said that the suspect had sold the e-liquid in 10-millilitre vials for 300 patacas each. According to Ho, the suspect had sold 10 vials, i.e., a total of 100 millilitres, and had earnt 3,000 patacas since April after receiving 400 millilitres of e-liquid from Vietnam.
According to Ho, the Judiciary Police seized 300 millilitres of e-liquid and 6,000 patacas in cash from Nguyen.
Ho said that Nguyen was transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing charges of drug trafficking and drug abuse.
