A Public Security Police (PSP) statement said that a 70-year-old man was picked up for refusing to present his Macau Health Code to the bus driver yesterday morning at a Rua do Almirante Sérgio bus stop in the Inner Harbour district.
According to the statement, yesterday at around 9 a.m. a senior citizen got on the bus without showing his Macau Health Code to the bus driver. The two argued, with police officers arriving soon, urging him to cooperate, the statement said.
After several warnings the man still did not cooperate, the statement said, adding that he was finally taken to a police station for questioning.
A video circulating on social media showed the man arguing with the police officers and resisting his removal from the bus.
Police officers discovered at the station that the man has a green Macau Health Code, according to the statement. He was given a stern warning, the statement said.
The Transport Bureau (DSAT) reminded the public that since Monday all passengers have been required to present their green Macau Health Code to the drivers and other public transport staff members, including buses, taxis and Light Rail Transit trains (LRT).
The Public Security Police urged the public to obey the local government’s COVID-19 prevention and control measures.
