Large-scale cleaning and disinfection were conducted in the residential buildings of confirmed COVID-19 cases, which was completed yesterday, according to a statement by the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM).

The statement pointed out that the bureau coordinated with both Macao Residue System Company, Ltd. (CSR) and cleaning contractors to send more staff to carry out the cleaning in areas such as nearby streets and the buildings’ communal areas to reduce the risk of the pandemic spreading as much as possible.

No abnormalities in cold-chain aquatic products imported from India

Meanwhile, in a separate statement yesterday, the bureau said that no abnormalities were found in the retests of cold-chain aquatic products imported from India.

The statement noted that the General Administration of Customs in Beijing announced yesterday that a packaging sample of frozen aquatic products imported from an enterprise producing aquatic products in India (registration number 1141) tested positive during nucleic acid tests (NATs).

The local bureau immediately launched measures such as source tracing and investigating the enterprise’s products. The statement underlined that local businesses were requested to seal the respective enterprise’s products at once, while samples were again collected for retesting which resulted in no abnormalities.

Moreover, product import applications by the affected enterprise were suspended from yesterday onwards.

The statement said that the bureau has collected samples of frozen and chilled aquatic products imported from India and their outer and inner packaging for multiple NATs since 2020. No positive results for COVID-19 have been found.

IAM has also conducted the disinfection and sample testing of all products imported from India in accordance with the pandemic prevention measures, with only products passing inspections allowed to enter Macau, the statement underlined.
