The tally of Macau's current COVID-19 outbreak has reached 190, the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre announced this afternoon.
The first case of the current outbreak was detected last Saturday.
Macau Health Bureau (SSM) Director Alvis Lo Iek Long announced the figure at the start of today's daily press conference by the centre. Lo said that from today the number of newly detected COVID-19 cases will be announced only once a day. Previously, the figure was updated at least twice a day.
Of the 190 positive cases, 45 were diagnosed with symptoms, while 145 were asymptomatic infections, according to Lo.
Lo said that from now on the updated daily COVID-19 tally will only be announced at the centre's daily press conference. He said the aim was to "avoid confusion" about the figures. He said that the current COVID-19 situation was "still serious".
According to the press conference, about 5,500 people are currently in quarantine for observation in Macau.
