The Public Security Police (PSP) said in a statement on Friday that they investigated two videos circulating on the internet showing someone purportedly violating the Law on the Prevention and Treatment of Infectious Diseases during their medical observation in a quarantine hotel.
The statement affirmed that two women admitted that they had opened the door of their guestroom during their medical observation at the Sheraton Grand hotel in Cotai, adding that on Wednesday, they threw a bottle of beer to two female friends, who are staying in the room opposite the two suspects.
The statement noted that the four suspects are aged between 35 and 36, with three of them holding travel permits for mainlanders to travel to Macau, while one is holding a Hong Kong ID card.
Meanwhile, according to the statement, a man had opened his room door to smoke a cigarette on Thursday during his medical observation at the Sheraton Grand hotel. The statement added that the man also chatted and drank alcohol with a man who is quarantined in the room opposite him. The statement said that both had opened their room doors during their medical observation to chat and drink alcohol.
The statement noted that the two male suspects, both aged 29, are local residents.
According to the statement, the two cases have been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP).
The police urged people who are under medical observation in quarantine hotels to abide by the government’s COVID-19 prevention measures, adding that people who breach the law can be imprisoned for up to six months or handed a hefty fine.
