A total of 70 artworks by 24 Portuguese artists are being displayed at an exhibition titled “Lusografia” in Amagao* Gallery, according to a recent statement by Artyzen Grand Lapa Macau hotel.
The statement noted that the exhibition was one of Macau’s programmes to celebrate the National Day of Portugal on June 10.
Managing Partner of Amagao Gallery José I. Duarte said in the statement that Portugal has a long tradition in engraving, serigraphy and printing arts, adding that works created by Paula Rego, Vieira da Silva, Júlio Pomar, Cruzeiro Seixas and Graça Morais are being displayed at the exhibition, so as to celebrate Portugal’s National Day, as well as the country’s arts and culture in “an extraordinary way”.
The statement pointed out that one of the artists, Rego, has been described by the BBC as the artist who helped to change the world with her “imaginative and magical” artworks, while another artist, Vieira da Silva, is a pioneer of European Abstract Expressionism with her obsession about perspective.
According to the statement, the exhibition will offer visitors a glimpse into the world of arts and graphics from the perspective of different “influential” artists in 1978.
The gallery is located in the hotel lobby of Artyzen Grand Lapa Macau in Avenida da Amizade.
The exhibition will run until September 4. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic situation, the gallery is temporarily closed until further notice.
