The Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) said in a statement that the bureau and the city’s six gaming operators held a meeting yesterday to discuss COVID-19 control and prevention measures with the aim of protecting the casino employees’ health.

The meeting was held following a DICJ statement on Tuesday, which said that a 48-hour validated negative result for a nucleic acid test (NAT) was needed for anyone entering casinos from 7 a.m. tomorrow.

The statement said that the six operators have pledged to fully cooperate with the government’s COVID-19 control and prevention measures.

The operators promised that they will provide their employees with the tests at the casinos’ nucleic acid testing stations. Should the casino employees choose to pay for a test at a testing station outside casino premises, they can claim the fee afterwards, according to the statement.

Rapid antigen test (RAT – self-test) kits and N95/KN95 masks are being distributed to the employees by the gaming operators, the statement added.

The DICJ, casino operators and the Macau Health Bureau (SSM) will continue to cooperate in ensuring the safety of casino guests and employees, the statement said, adding that the gaming regulator is urging the six gaming operators to pass the message to their staff that the fight against the virus requires cooperation between all of them.
