A subsistence team distributed food packs comprising vegetables and frozen meat and emergency food packs yesterday to assist households in locked-down buildings to prepare for the possible arrival of a typhoon and the probably unstable weather conditions caused by Tropical Cyclone Chaba, according to a Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) statement.
The statement noted that the food packs act as a backup in case that frozen meat and vegetable food packs or meal boxes are not delivered during the possible storm.
According to the Macau Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau’s (SMG) forecast and under the tropical cyclone’s influence, “the wind will strengthen over the weekend with heavy showers and thunderstorms”, the statement said.
For public safety, the subsistence team, the statement pointed out, will temporarily remove outdoor tents and temporary facilities in the red-coded lockdown zones, as well as suspend meal services, delivery of essentials and domestic waste collection depending on the situation. The bureau urged households to wrap their domestic waste properly and keep it at home during the storm.
The respective households were notified of the arrangements via text messages. The statement pointed out that the team will pay close attention to the weather condition’s changes and resume the services accordingly. Households will be notified via text messages in case of further arrangements, the statement added.
