Macao Water announced in a statement yesterday the details of the “Water Subsidy Measure for Households and Business Establishments for 2022”, in which a 6-month water subsidy for bills issued between July and December is given.

The subsidy, the statement noted, can be used for 12 months, with the accumulated balance forfeited after the period. Macao Water  expects that the measure will benefit around 260,000 households and businesses.

The statement pointed out that households can receive a 100-pataca monthly subsidy, with the statement adding that since local households are generally billed bimonthly, customers can receive a subsidy of up to 200 patacas per bill issued between July and December.

Moreover, unused subsidy balances for each billing period within the subsidy period can be accumulated for six months after December, with up to a deduction of up 200 patacas can be made per bill until June 30 2023, the statement said.

Meanwhile, businesses can receive a 500-pataca monthly subsidy per contract between July and December, with those billed monthly able to receive up to 500 patacas per monthly bill while those billed bimonthly can receive 1,000 patacas, according to the statement. However, it is not applicable to water supply contracts with casinos, 3-, 4- and 5-star hotels and government entities.

Unused subsidy balances per bill within the subsidy period can be accumulated for six months after December, with the statement noting that a deduction of up to 500 patacas per monthly bill and 1,000 patacas per bimonthly bill until June 30 2023.

The statement underlined that the subsidy covers items such as water charges and meter rentals. Further details on the subsidy can be found at www.macaowater.com, the official Macao Water WeChat account, or by calling 2822 0088. Customers unable to receive their paper bills, the statement noted, can check their e-bills and apply for water supply-related services through the aforementioned platforms.

Customers can also pay water charges via the company’s WeChat account and e-payment platforms, while for those using autopay, the water fee deduction remains the same, according to the statement.
