The Public Security Police (PSP) said in a statement on Sunday that a 17-year-old local male was suspected of driving a private vehicle without a driving licence, and crashing into two barriers at the rear of Jao Tsung-I Academy in Rua do Tap Siac.
The academy is one of the historic properties in Avenida do Conselheiro Ferreira de Almeida near Praça do Tap Seac.
The statement pointed out that the police found the car with the driver still at the scene. It added that the suspect passed a breathaliser test.
Meanwhile, according to a statement by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC), as a traffic accident occurred at 1 p.m. at the rear of Jao Tsung-I Academy, IC officials were sent to the scene. The statement noted that after inspection, it was found that a wooden door of the rear of the academy in Rua do Tap Siac was partially damaged while the wall was slightly scratched. The accident did not affect the building’s structure, it added.
The statement pointed out that the building is part of a listed building at 89-95G Avenida do Conselheiro Ferreira de Almeida.
According to the statement, the bureau is cooperating with the police in following up on the incident. The statement noted that restoration work will be carried out as soon as possible.
