COVID-19 measures are continuously being enforced for indoor and outdoor vendors in municipal wet markets, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) announced in a statement yesterday.
According to the statement, the vendors must complete daily rapid antigen tests (RATs) prior to working, all of which will be checked and verified by inspection staff. Moreover, vendors must also strictly follow hygiene and pandemic prevention guidelines, as well as take personal hygiene protection measures while working.
Meanwhile, the statement noted that the bureau will pay close attention to the visitor flow in the markets’ indoor and outdoor areas, while restrictive measures will be employed when necessary to reduce crowds gathering. Members of the public are urged to “understand and cooperate with the measures”.
The bureau also continues to enhance cleaning and disinfection of all municipal wet markets and the stall areas around them, the statement pointed out, while the frequency of cleaning public facilities with diluted bleach is being increased. Moreover, during the markets’ closing hours, the statement said that thorough cleaning and disinfection using high-pressure water hoses and sprayers are conducted to strengthen disinfection.
The statement emphasised that those entering the market must properly wear a facemask, undergo temperature checks, scan the Venue QR Code and present a valid Macau Health Code, pay attention to personal and environmental hygiene, and cooperate with pandemic prevention measures. Security guards stationed at wet market entrances also provide hand sanitisers for those entering the premises to further increase protection.
