The Public Security Police (PSP) said in a statement on Friday that a foreign resident was arrested for attacking a nucleic acid test (NAT) station staff member at Chino Plaza in Praça das Orquídea when staff members told the man, who had jumped the queue, to go to the end of the line.
According to the statement, the man, who is holding a Macau non-permanent ID card, is aged about 50. The police did not reveal the man’s nationality.
The statement noted that the man caused dissatisfaction among people in the line due to his queue-jumping so that the NAT station staff members immediately asked him to go to the end of queue. However, the statement added, the man then punched one of the staff members and attempted to leave the scene.
The statement underlined that the victim was pushed to the ground, causing injuries to his hands, when he was attempting to stop the man from leaving the station.
According to the statement, the man was arrested by police officers at the scene for causing bodily harm. A further investigation will be conducted as both parties involved have expressed their intention to take legal action, the statement added.
Meanwhile, the police urged the public to cooperate with the government’s mass nucleic acid testing work, adding that people should arrive at NAT stations on time after making an appointment on the NAT website while following the instructions of the respective station’s staff members by keeping one-metre social distancing and patiently waiting to have their nucleic acid tests.
