The Judiciary Police (PJ) spokeswoman Lei Hon Nei said in a statement yesterday that an 87-year-old local woman was confirmed dead after “falling” from a building in Rua Norte do Patane.
According to the statement, the Judiciary Police were informed by the Fire Services Bureau (CB) at 9:56 a.m. yesterday that a woman had died after “falling from a height”. The statement added that a cleaner of the building found the victim lying in the car park on the building’s third floor earlier that morning.
The statement noted that the victim lived alone in a flat in the building, and she had often told her family about her unhappiness, leading to depression.
According to the statement, the victim had told her family by phone at 8 a.m. that she felt troubled by the gossip of her neighbours. Afterwards, the victim took the lift alone to a upper floor and walked to the building’s back stairs. According to the statement, it is believed that she “fell” from a staircase window.
The statement said that no suicide note was found at the scene.
A preliminary examination of the body showed that the injuries were consistent with a fall from a height, according to the statement, there were no suspected criminal injuries on the body.
The exact cause of death would be confirmed after a forensic examination, the statement noted.
