A local man has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) for fabricating rapid antigen test (RAT) results, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Lou Chan Fai said in a statement on Saturday.
According to the statement, the 20-year-old suspect surnamed O told the police that he is jobless.
The Judiciary Police received a report from a man that a positive RAT result was uploaded to his daughter’s rapid antigen test reporting platform, the statement said, adding that after enquiries and follow-up with the Health Bureau (SSM), the man suspected that his daughter’s personal information had been used by someone to upload the falsified positive RAT result on her rapid antigen test reporting platform.
The statement noted that the Judiciary Police identified O as the suspect, and intercepted him at a flat in a residential building in the northern district.
The statement said that O and the victim are friends, pointing out that as just as a bit of fun he played a trick on the woman by downloading a photo of the positive RAT result from the internet and submitting it on the victim’s RAT reporting platform by using her personal information, which had been saved on O’s mobile phone previously when the woman borrowed his device to upload her Macau Health Code. The statement added that O impersonated the victim to report both negative and positive RAT results multiple times.
Moreover, the statement noted, the PJ officers discovered that O also submitted other people’s negative RAT results for his declaration, which were used to generate his Macau Health Code.
According to the statement, O has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), where he faces charges of aggravated computer-related and document forgeries.
