A motorbike crashed with a police motorcycle at 7:11 a.m. on Saturday at a junction of Estrada da Bela Vista and Estrada de Ferreira do Amaral, near Montanha Russa Garden, the Public Security Police (PSP) said in a statement on that day.
The statement noted that the female motorbike rider who is in her forties is a local resident, while the male police motorcyclist, who is in his thirties, is a member of the Traffic Police Department.
The statement pointed out that the rider, who failed to give way, drove straight out of the junction where there is a “give way” sign and crashed into the police motorcyclist.
According to the statement, the female victim sustained abrasions to her hands, arms and legs, while the policeman had scrapes on his hands. Both were taken to the public Conde de São Januário Hospital Centre, and discharged after treatment, the statement added.
The statement pointed out that both passed their breathalysers, which showed their respective alcohol concentration was 0 gramme of alcohol per litre of blood.
