The Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) received global accreditation for its quality education through an International Quality Review (IQR) by the “UK’s Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (UKQAA)”, the public tertiary education institution said in a statement yesterday.

According to the statement, UKQAA is a worldwide higher education quality assurance leader. It conducted the accreditation upon reviewing areas such as academic strengths and research capabilities, with review findings indicating “that MPU meets international standards across all its academic areas” such as education, arts, languages, social and behavioural sciences.

Two areas were particularly recognised as “good practices”, which were MPU’s student research and innovation and its talent cultivation model, the statement pointed out.

The statement added that MPU was the first higher education institution in Asia that had a successful institutional review by UKQAA in 2013, with this year’s accreditation being a “revalidation of MPU’s quality education”.

Moreover, the review, the statement noted, took place alongside an “Institutional Accreditation as stipulated by the Macau higher education law”, with the public university’s multidisciplinary education and high standard of scholarships in teaching and applied research recognised, the statement said.

The statement added that the university is “proactive in optimising its educational quality through academic review and accreditation”. It is also committed to academic excellence and nurturing “high-calibre and globally-competitive professionals” to serve society.
