After being suspended due to its main cables being worn out, the Guia Hill Cable Car is resuming operations today, according to a statement from the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) yesterday.

The statement noted that as the main cables’ replacement, cable connections, inspections, adjustments and trials to ensure safe operations, among other work, have been completed the operation of the cable car will resume today.

The cable car runs from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, except on Mondays, the statement said. The cable car is also closed on the following day if a public holiday, day of exemption from work or compensatory rest day falls on a Monday.

The cable car operations had been suspended since September last year.

According to the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) website, a single ticket costs two patacas, while a return ticket costs three patacas. Special concessionary return tickets for kids aged 12 or below and seniors aged 65 and above cost two patacas.

The aerial gondola lift system opened in 1997. The ride, which takes just 80 seconds, is reputed to be one of the world’s shortest cable car rides. Visitors can gain a bird’s-eye view of the Flora Garden below and a panoramic view of the peninsula.
