A man was arrested last week for damaging a firedoor in a residential building in Zape and assaulting a doorman in early April after failing to make it up with his ex-girlfriend who lives in the building, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesperson said at a regular press conference on Friday.
The 31-year-old local jobless suspect is surnamed Chang.
According to the spokesperson, the Public Security Police (PSP) received a call in early April from a member of the management staff of a residential building in Zape that a firedoor had been damaged and that a few days later a doorman was attacked by a man.
PSP officers told Chang to report to a police station last week for questioning. Chang admitted to committing the crime. He told the police that he went to his ex-girlfriend’s flat and asked her to go back to him but she refused. After leaving the flat he kicked the firedoor to vent his anger. A few days later, he went to his ex-girlfriend’s home again and banged on her door. When the 67-year-old local doorman went to stop him Chang attacked him by pushing him against a wall and throttling him. He also threatened him.
The doorman sustained injuries to his neck and left hand. The building management company has told Chang to pay 5,000 patacas for damaging the firedoor, said the spokesperson.
Chang has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing charges of causing property damage and bodily harm and making threats, according to the spokesperson.
