The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) said in a statement yesterday that its “Stay, Dine and See Macao” programme resumed local tours yesterday, which had been suspended due to the recent COVID-19 outbreak in mid-June, adding that from August 6 until Sunday, 1,158 people had signed up for local tours and 3,848 hotel packages were sold, involving 10,832 hotel overnight guests.

This year’s programme will last until the end of this month, according to the statement.

The statement noted that the first day’s itineraries for the local tours after their resumption included visits to tourist attractions in Coloane, such as Nossa Senhora Village of Ka Ho and Coloane Fishing Village, which is one of the Macau New Eight Scenic Spots.

The statement pointed out that regarding itineraries that include meals in restaurants, MGTO has coordinated with the relevant catering businesses to separate participants into small groups to have their meals, while for those itineraries that do not include meals, a 100-pataca dining card will be distributed by the tourist guides, so as to facilitate the taking of meals separately.

According to the statement, in line with the Health Bureau’s (SSM) COVID-19 prevention guidelines, participants must wear a facemask, undergo a temperature check, show a valid green Macau Health Code and scan the venue QR code. The statement underlined that those holding a yellow or red Macau Health Code are not allowed to join the tours.

Meanwhile, MGTO is currently studying the feasibility of extending the programme’s hotel staycation experiences and local tours, as well as its “Educational Student Tours”.
