Gongbei’s Customs Administration said in a statement yesterday that its officers intercepted a local man driving a Guangdong-Macau dual licence plate private car at the Macau-Hengqin checkpoint in Cotai yesterday and found him attempting to smuggle 710 mobile phones to the mainland.
The statement said that the driver, surnamed Mou, was stopped by customs officers at noon yesterday when he was driving his car en route to Zhuhai through the Macau-Hengqin checkpoint.
The statement noted that both through the CS1000T light vehicle inspection system and manual inspection, the customs officers found that Mou had dismantled his car’s dashboard and hidden 710 mobile phones behind it.
The case has been handed over to relevant entities for follow-up, according to the statement.
The statement underlined that in accordance with the mainland’s regulations, the means of transport used exclusively for smuggling more than three times within two years will be confiscated.
