A 27-year-old local man was arrested on Monday for damaging a private car, which each time was parked in the northern district, four times, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Leong Chi Seng said at a regular press conference yesterday.
Leong said that the suspect surnamed Chun told the police that he works in computer engineering, and claimed that he’s the victim’s business partner.
According to Leong, PSP officers received reports from the same victim between August 3 and last Sunday that he suspected someone intentionally put wire nails near his car’s tyres which damaged the tyres. The victim told the police that the repairs cost him 5,000 patacas, Leong added.
After scrutinising the police forces’ citywide CCTV camera system, PSP officers identified and intercepted the suspect on Monday near his flat in Areia Preta district.
Under questioning, Chun admitted that due to a business dispute, he took revenge by putting the wire nails in front of the car’s tyres, Leong said.
Leong said that Chun has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), where he faces a charge of damaging property.
