Police officers intercepted on Sunday a septuagenarian riding a motorcycle who crossed a solid white line, after which they found out that the suspect reeking of alcohol is a physician, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Cheuk Kou Chi said at a press conference yesterday.
Cheuk identified the suspect as a local male surnamed Lao who told the police that he’s a doctor in a private clinic.
According to Cheuk, on Sunday at 9:40 p.m. police stopped Lao who had crossed a solid white line while riding his motorcycle in Rua do Visconde Paço de Arcos in the Inner Harbour area. Cheuk said that Lao had a strong odour of alcohol and a breathalyser test showed that the rider’s alcohol concentration was 1.79 grammes of alcohol per litre of blood.
During the investigation, Lao admitted that he had been drinking until 9 p.m. in a restaurant in Avenida Marginal do Patane, Cheuk said, adding that Lao faces drink-driving charges, and has already been fined for crossing a solid white line.
