A local woman and a mainlander who were arrested on Monday for allegedly attacking two local men in a brawl in Areia Preta earlier that day have been remanded in custody, the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) announced in a statement yesterday, adding that one of the victims, who was stabbed in the chest with a knife, was still in a critical condition.
The Macau Post Daily published reports on Tuesday and yesterday about the case, which was announced by the Judiciary Police (PJ) in a statement on Monday and a further elaborated on in a press conference on Tuesday.
According to Tuesday’s PJ announcement, the two local victims are a father and son, while the two local suspects, both surnamed Lei, are father and daughter; the third suspect, surnamed Lin, from the mainland, is Lei’s boyfriend. The victim, who is in critical condition, and the female suspect are ex-spouses.
The statement said that the three suspects waited for the two victims outside the building where they lived and the five started to quarrel, during which, the mainlander took out a knife he had with him and stabbed his girlfriend’s ex-husband on the left side of the chest twice, causing the victim serious bodily injuries. At the same time, the statement added, the victim’s father, who had been beaten, sustained a facial fracture and a fracture on the left side of his chest.
According to the statement, the female suspect and the mainland suspect face charges of causing grievous bodily harm, and the latter also faces a charge for carrying a prohibited weapon, while Lei’s father faces a charge of causing bodily harm.
The statement noted that the female suspect and her boyfriend have been remanded in custody, while Lei’s father has been ordered to provide his identity information and his address. He is also barred from leaving Macau, must report regularly to the police and is forbidden to contact the two victims.
According to earlier police reports, the brawl was the result of a family and money dispute.
