Tickets for the contemporary acrobatic show The Butterfly Lovers, a performance to celebrate the 73rd Anniversary of the National Day of the People’s Republic of China (PRC), will be available for sale from tomorrow, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) said in a statement yesterday.
According to the statement, the show will be held on September 30 and October 1 at 8 p.m at the Venetian Theatre, with the “classic love story between Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai” as the plot’s base and “the image of the butterfly Liang Zhu as the symbol of love, combined with the philosophy of Zhuang Zhou Huadie”, the statement noted.
The statement added that the story is depicted at different levels, angles and artforms such as acrobatics, dance and drama, pointing out that ballet on shoulders is used to interpret the love story.
The statement said that the show is organised by the bureau in conjunction with the Department of Publicity and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macau SAR, and is produced by the Publicity Department of Guangzhou Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (PRC) and the Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism.
It is supported by The Venetian Macao and performed by the Guangzhou Acrobatic Arts Theater Co. Ltd.
Tickets will be sold from today at the Macau Ticketing Network and are priced at 200 patacas and 100 patacas, while the Cotai Ticketing’s ticket sale date will be announced in due course. The maximum indoor capacity for the venue is limited to 75 percent and follows the government’s COVID-19 pandemic prevention measures such as either presenting proof of completion of the whole course of the COVID-19 vaccine for at least 14 days, or a negative nucleic acid test (NAT) result issued within 48 hours, the statement noted. Those not complying will not be allowed to enter the venue and tickets will not be refunded.
