Two new public car parks will come into service in the city in the near future, according to government announcements yesterday.

The two regulations on the use and operations of the Mong Ha Sports Centre Car Park and the Toi Fai Building Car Park were published in the Official Gazette (BO) yesterday.

Mong Ha Sports Centre is a redeveloped high-rise sports complex which opened to the public late last year.

Toi Fai Building is a newly-completed social rental housing project in Toi San district.

The government’s public housing programme comprises subsidised home-ownership scheme (HOS) flats and social rental housing units.

The two regulations take effect today after their respective promulgations in the Official Gazette yesterday. However, the government yesterday did not specify when the two car parks will come into use.

According to the regulation published yesterday, the Mong Ha Sports Centre Car Park has three underground levels, namely the first, second and third basement floors, providing a total of 476 public parking spaces that consist of 264 for cars and 212 for motorcycles.

According to the other regulation, the Toi Fai Building Car Park has two levels, namely the first and second floor of the building. It has a total of 224 parking spaces that will open to the public, comprising 105 for cars and 119 for motorcycles.

According to the two regulations, the two new public car parks will have the same charging scheme, according to which cars are charged six patacas per hour during the day (from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.) and three patacas per hour during the night (from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. the next day), while motorcycles are charged two patacas per hour during the day and one pataca per hour during the night.
