A maintenance worker cut open the seats of five motorbikes with a box cutter for obstructing the pavement under his flat, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Ho Chan Nam said at a regular press conference yesterday.
According to Ho, the suspect is a 67-year local surnamed Wong. Ho pointed out that on August 18, two motorcycle owners reported to the police that the seats of their motorcycles parked in Toi San district had been cut. They said the cost of the repairs were estimated at 730 patacas and 300 patacas respectively.
Ho said that the CCTV footage from the area showed Wong slicing seats of motorcycles on August 18, 20 and September 1. Ho also noted that two more victims separately reported to the police later that their motorbikes’ seats had been sliced. The police called Wong in for questioning last Friday. Ho said that the suspect admitted to the crime and told the police that he committed it because he was angry about the illegally parked motorcycles on the pavement blocking his way.
The suspect, who faces property damage charges, has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP).
