Huawei (Macau Branch), The Association for Promotion of Science and Technology of Macau, and the Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Centre (CPTTM) are jointly holding the “Huawei ICT Competition 2022-2023 Macao SAR”, the preliminary contest of which will be held at the end of next month, according to a statement handed out during yesterday’s press conference about the contest at the Macau Chamber of Commerce Building in Zape.
ICT refers to information and Communications Technology.
Registration has started and the deadline is October. All university students and secondary school students studying in Macau are welcome to participate in the competition, the statement noted.
The statement said that the contest includes three stages: the Macau regional competition between October and November, the Asia Pacific regional competition in February and the global final in May next year, pointing out that the contest will be divided into the “Network Track” and “Cloud Track” parts, requiring both written tests and experiments.
Huawei EBG Macau Branch General Manager Jackie Li Yingjie said in his speech during the press conference that the contest themed “Connection, Glory, Future” aims to build an international competition and exchange platform for university students around the world, while enhancing their ICT knowledge level and practical ability, and cultivating their innovation and creation ability by using new technologies and platforms, thus aiming to contribute to the construction of global digitalisation.
Li noted that 475 university students joined the local contest last year, with more than 1,000 students in Macau receiving training by Huawei.
Li said that a new track has been added for middle school students this year, hoping that through the competition, they can approach and understand the ICT industry in advance, so as to enhance their practical skills and innovation awareness by providing references for students’ future study and career direction, while injecting new momentum into the industry.
The press conference was also attended by CPTTM Director-General Victoria Alexa Kuan Chan and Sio Han Pan, president of the board of directors of The Association for Promotion of Science and Technology of Macau.
