A statement by the Pharmaceutical Supervision and Administration Bureau (ISAF) on Wednesday said that the “Kyokuto Seirogan” gastrointestinal medicine manufactured by Kyokuto Co. Ltd in Japan has been recalled from pharmacies.
The statement noted that the bureau was notified by a local drug importer that the drug manufacturer voluntarily recalled all problematic batches of the medicine as its stability test result shows that the content of one of its main ingredients did not meet quality standards.
The statement underlined that the drug is a natural remedy for the treatment of enteritis and diarrhoea, adding that the problematic products had been supplied to local pharmacies and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) pharmacies, which have already been informed to recall the drugs.
According to the statement, the bureau will continue to pay close attention to the issue.
