A local man was arrested for touching a girl’s crotch, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Leng Kam Lon said at a regular press conference yesterday.
Leng said that the 66-year-old suspect surnamed Hong told the police that he’s jobless. The victim is under 14 years old, Leng noted.
According to Leng, when the victim and her mother were walking in Rua Nova da Areia Preta last Thursday evening, Hong walked towards the victim and suddenly collided with the girl’s left shoulder and then touched her crotch. Her mother, witnessing the incident, attempted to follow Hong, but he got onto a bus and fled, Leng added.
The mother and daughter reported the incident to the police immediately, Leng said. PJ officers used their citywide CCTV camera system and identified Hong who lives in a building nearby, where he was apprehended on Monday. Hong denied the accusation, but the footage showed that he collided with the victim deliberately, Leng said, adding that Hong had been convicted of sexual harassment in 2020.
Hong was transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) on Tuesday. He faces a charge of sexual harassment of a child under the age of 14, according to Leng.
Based on Article 164-A and Clause 4a of Article 166 of the Macau Penal Code, he faces a prison term of up to three years.
