A Spanish non-resident worker (NRW) crashed his car into the kerb in Rotunda Dr Sun Yat Sen in Taipa at 1:30 a.m. on Monday, Public Security Police (PSP) spokeswoman Lai In Hong said at yesterday’s regular press conference, adding that a local woman, who was the passenger in the car, however identified herself to traffic police as the driver.
According to Lai, the driver is a man surnamed Lei in his twenties, while the woman, surnamed Leong, who told the police that she works as a hair dresser’s assistant, is in her thirties.
Lai noted that a breathalyser test showed that the driver’s alcohol concentration was 1.8 grammes of alcohol per litre of blood.
At the scene on Monday the man was arrested for drunk-driving and the woman for falsely stating that she was the driver who crashed the car into the kerb.
Both have been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), where the former faces charges of drunk-drinking and dangerous driving, while the latter faces a charge of aiding and abetting the perpetrator of an offence.
