Many residents in Macau are still not receptive to the practice of mothers breastfeeding in public places, Macau Breastfeeding Association President Edith Long I Man said yesterday, urging local residents to accept mothers feeding their babies in the way which, she said, is much more beneficial to the child’s development than infant formula.
Long spoke to The Macau Post Daily at the Macau Fisherman’s Wharf where her association held a sharing session between mothers who breastfeed their babies and mothers-to-be who are thinking of breastfeeding.
Long said that breastfeeding did provide babies with much more nutrition than infant formula. She said that breastfeeding was irreplaceable for a child’s development.
