The Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) said in a statement that as of 5 p.m. yesterday, over 2,000 people had attended the two-day Youth Career Expo that was held over the weekend at the Venetian in Cotai, adding that about 1,400 people, who had on-the-spot job interviews will be informed by the respective companies before October 21 as to whether they have been hired or not, or need to go through a second interview.
The expo-themed “Youth Employment Starts Now” was a large-scale job fair, which offered over 1,100 jobs in nearly 20 sectors, such as retail and finance, involving 70 companies and institutions, from both Macau and the Guangdong-Macau In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, the statement said.
The statement noted that over the weekend more than 100 enquiries and visits to the bureau’s employment support services, such as mock job interview workshops and résumé writing skill workshops, were recorded at the two-day expo.
The statement quoted a participating entrepreneur as saying that the expo increased communication and interaction between young job seekers and companies, attracted talents, and promoted the corporate image, resulting in a “positive and interactive” effect and atmosphere.
The statement also quoted some fresh graduates who were looking for a job at the expo as saying that the job fair was a “rare” channel for youngsters to receive job-hunting information from different enterprises and to broaden their career horizons, while the employment support services assisted them in mastering their interview and curriculum vitae (CV) writing skills, which would enable them to understand their own strengths and improve on their weaknesses, and to increase their employment chances.
Moreover, during the expo 20 seminars were held, which were attended by about 530 people, according to the statement.
