A local man was arrested for drunk-driving after he crashed his car into an underground carpark’s wall, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Kam Ka Kit said during a regular press conference yesterday.

Kam identified the suspect as a 45-year-old surnamed Wong who told the police that he’s jobless.

According to Kam, the police received a report from a security guard at around 2 a.m. on Thursday saying that a car had crashed in an underground carpark where he was working. Police who arrived at the scene found Wong in the car reeking of alcohol.

Wong immediately admitted drunk-driving, adding that he had been drinking in a bar in Zape from Wednesday evening until 2 a.m. on Thursday. Kam noted that a breathalyser test detected his alcohol concentration as 2.42 grammes of alcohol per litre of blood.

Wong has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing a drunk-driving charge, Kam said.
