A non-resident worker (NRW) from the mainland stole a helmet hanging from the handlebars of a motorcycle, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Cheuk Kou Chi said at a press conference on Monday.
The suspect, surnamed Guan, is in his forties and worked as a shop assistant.
According Cheuk, a person reported to the police on September 24 that his or her helmet, worth 250 patacas, hanging on the handlebars of their motorcycle was stolen in Rua Marginal do Canal das Hortas. The police identified Guan based on CCTV footage and called him to the Nam Van Police Station for questioning last Wednesday.
Guan admitted stealing the helmet for his own use, Cheuk said, adding that the helmet was in Guan’s home in the mainland.
Guan has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing a theft charge, Cheuk said.
