Softide, Macau’s first smart bed shop, officially opened yesterday with a trial event at its outlet on Rua de Sacadura Cabral, offering physical stress tests and sleep trials of smart beds.

According to the company’s statement, the smart bed uses sensors and other smart technology to collect and analyse important data about sleep patterns, designed to help users fall asleep faster and provide more restful sleep, and some smart beds can automatically adjust to prevent users from snoring.

Macau Chain Stores and Franchise Association Vice President Lei Chi U told The Macau Post Daily that Softide is a smart bed brand made by a mainland China-based company, Keeson Technology Corp, with products sold in 52 countries and regions around the world, adding that with the popularity of home automation in recent years, smart beds will be the next new trend in smart home products.

Our reporter personally experienced the smart bed product. After a 4-minute smart scan, the reporter obtained the soft and hard data of their body suitable for the mattress, and then was taken to the recommended soft mattress to experience sleep.

Softness and bearing strength is our reporter’s biggest first impression of the mattress. The reporter also tested the sensitivity of the sensor of the bed, where each breath can be detected, which can be also seen in the sound wave recorded on a large screen. Lei said that the product “can even detect falling feathers”, and floated the feathers on the bed, then the sound wave line changed immediately.

Lei said that this product can automatically adjust the hardness of the mattress according to the distribution of personal body pressure, and generate a sleep report including fatigue index, heart rate, respiratory rate and other data, so that users can understand the change in their sleep patterns, and then scientifically know about their sleep quality.

Lei said he thought it’s easy for modern people to neglect their sleep quality because staying up late has become a common problem, but at the same time, sleeping longer doesn’t mean sleeping better.

Softide Macau Sales Director Choi Pui I told The Macau Post Daily that the company is planning to partner with local resorts to offer luxury experiences to customers, and believes its products can help users better understand their sleep status.
