Culture bureau axes ‘large cultural & artistic activities’

A number of the Cultural Affairs Bureau’s (IC) large cultural and artistic activities slated yesterday were cancelled owing to the current COVID-19 pandemic situation in Macau and in order to ensure participants’ safety, the bureau said in a statement.

Three more COVID-19 cases were confirmed yesterday morning, a 43-year-old woman and her two 13-year-old sons.

According to yesterday’s statement, the cancelled activities included the last day of the 25th Lusofonia Festival, the “Chinese and Portuguese Picture Book Fair” and wine tasting, all of which were part of the 4th “Encounter in Macao – Arts and Cultural Festival between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries”.

Other cancelled activities yesterday were the “Cultural Heritage Protection Law Promotion Festival 2022”, the Macao Chinese Orchestra Season Opening Concert 2022-23 “Impressions of the Taihang Mountains” and the charity session “Contemporary Meets Tradition” in the 34th Macao International Music Festival, the statement noted.

The statement said that other arrangements will be announced in due course.
