The Urban Renewal Council yesterday backed the government’s proposal to provide flat owners in old low-rise buildings with a new subsidy for structural surveys, Secretary for Transport and Public Works Raimundo do Rosario said.
Rosario, who chairs the council, made the announcement after a closed-door meeting of the government-appointed council at the Transport Bureau (DSAT).
Yesterday’s meeting was the council’s fourth meeting since it was established early this year when it replaced the now-defunct Old Quarters Renewal Consultative Committee founded in 2005.
