A local man was arrested last Monday for taking a sneaky snap of a woman in the women’s toilet of a hotel in Taipa earlier that day, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Lam Keong said in a regular press conference yesterday.
The suspect in his twenties surnamed Chan told the police that he’s jobless. The victim is a local woman in her twenties.
According to Lam, when the victim was using the toilet last Monday, she heard noises in the cubicle next to hers. She discovered that someone was using a smartphone to take pictures of her. When she started to shout, the suspect ran away immediately. The victim gave chase and managed to stop him. The victim reported the case to the police immediately, and Chan was apprehended at the scene later.
Under questioning, Chan admitted taking a photo of her but had already deleted it.
Chan has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing an invasion of privacy charge, according to Lam.
